“Sugar is nothing but a chemical. They take the juice of the cane or beet and refine it to molasses and then they refine it to brown sugar and finally to strange white crystals.” Author of Sugar Blues.
- In the 1800’s, the average person consumed about 18 pounds of sugar per year. In 1890 the obesity rate in the U.S. for white males, age group 50’s only, was 3.4%.
- In the 1900’s, the average person consumed about 90 pounds of sugar per year. In 1975, the obesity rate in the U.S. for all Americans, was 15%.
- In 2009, more than 50 percent of Americans consumed a 1/2 pound of sugar per day, which is 180 pounds of sugar per year. And, the obesity rate had risen to 32% of all Americans!
And by the way, in 1893 there were fewer than 3 people with diabetes per 100,000 Americans and now there are 8,000 Americans with diabetes per 100,000 people in the United States today! Do you see a correlation?
Not only is refined white sugar a deadly drug but it is easily the largest drug addiction in the world! It’s obvious that refined sugar is an empty carbohydrate that contains no nutritional value whatsoever. But, do you know the process of how sugar is refined? If you did….I would suspect you would keep this out of your diet altogether.
Sugar is made from both sugar cane and beets. To start the process, they are heated and calcium hydroxide (lime), which is a toxin to the body, is added. They add this toxic chemical to remove other ingredients that interfere with the complete processing of sugar. Then, carbon dioxide, which is another toxin, is used to remove the lime.
The sugar turns from a sticky black substance to a clear substance which is heated again to remove other impurities. Then the sugar is bleached white with a chemical solution that actually uses blood albumin and/or animal charcoal which are pork by-products. And it that’s not enough, it is then processed at least three more times before it’s in the form of white crystals. By that time….it is now a drug and an artificial substance which no longer resembles any form of food.
The chemicals that are used in the processing of sugar (acid calcium phosphate, phosphoric acid, etc.) are very potent and health-debilitating. These chemicals disturb the nutritional balance in our body. Digestion is disturbed and any nutrients we are absorbing, such as the minerals chromium, zinc and calcium and your C and B-complex vitamins, are literally robbed from our bodies.
Here’s something else you may find interesting. We all know sugar is used in almost all processed foods but do you know how it’s used for non-food purposes? It’s used to make plastic, cement mixing, and also leather tanning and my grandmother used table sugar and flour to make glue for our art projects. If you continue eating this deadly substance…what do you think will eventually happen to your intestines?
To break it down simply….sugar is a toxin, toxins create inflammation, and inflammation breeds disease. There’s a reason why so many of us have diabetes, cancer and heart disease….and sugar is one of the main culprits!
